Arrowhead Provincial Park - Dorset
Located two hours from Toronto and 10 minutes from Huntsville, Arrowhead is one of the parks that Ontario has and offers access to many activities throughout the year.
In winter, they enable a spectacular 1.3 km skating rink that slides through the forest, as well as other activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and snow tubing. Summer activities range from hiking and camping to swimming and relaxing on beautiful beaches along Lake Arrowhead.
There are five hiking trails. The Beaver Meadow Trail is 7 km long and passes through Porcupine Bluffs on a moderate two-hour hike. Big Bend Lookout, an easy hike, offers panoramic views of the meandering Big East River and the beautiful surrounding terrain.
There is also the Homesteader’s Trail, a moderate one-hour hike consisting of 3 km through semi-steep terrain. Mayflower Lake Trail is a moderate 1km hike that takes about 30 minutes to complete. The trail has long ups and downs surrounding the once-glacial lake. The final trail, Stubb’s Falls Trail, is 2 km long.
